Leadership Above the Line

Whether you've given it much thought - everyone's a leader of some kind. Think about it. Moms and dads are leaders in the home. There are business leaders, civic leaders, and team leaders on even the youngest sports teams. Hopefully you're beginning to get the point. If you're breathing - whether you admit it or not - you're a leader of some kind.

Based on the seminal work of Dr. Sarah Sumner, this fun and unique workshop will provide you with the understanding of what it means to "lead above the line." And, how to change "below the line" behavior.

Each of us lead primarily from one of three motivations:

TRUTH ~ GOODNESS ~ BEAUTY

Or, known in modern day language as: the Strategist , the Humanitarian , and the Diplomat . It's essential to understand and apply each to be an effective leader.

About

Growing up I always knew there was something different about me, but I didn’t know what it was exactly. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, ADD, and dyslexia. To be sure, this complicated the learning process for me, along with other life issues.

However, this had a profound effect on how I viewed creativity and the purpose of art in my life. I don't think creativity was ever meant to be a one way endeavor. Creating a dialogue between craftsman and patron allows understanding to develop and an exchange of ideas between both parties. Perhaps that's because creativity doesn't happen in a vacuum. We all have a story to tell because it’s how we become known. So, it’s through my art and the sharing of stories that I hope to resonate with you.

My current body of work is titled Empty Hands…. These visual metaphors tell the stories of the marginalized in our communities and those willing to get their hands dirty and do the work to help these members in our society.

My artwork is widely held and exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2011 I migrated all of my work to a digital workflow. All images are printed on archival paper with pigmented inks.

Additional artwork and information may be viewed in my galleries.

Installation: All subject matter is appropriate for a public, multi-use venue. All artwork is original and is the sole creation of the artist. Each work is produced with pigmented inks on archival paper. Framed artworks range in size from 12x16 to 18x24 inches.

Artist talk: I am available for meet the artist discussions and other appropriate venues.

My wife, Kathleen, and I are life long residents of the St. Louis, MO area. We currently reside in St. Charles, MO.
