It dawned on me a few years ago what my purpose is in creating visual artwork. It’s to help people see. Let me explain. Growing up I always knew there was something different about me, but I didn’t know what it was exactly. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, ADD, and dyslexia. To be sure, this complicated the learning process for me, along with other life issues. Because of my TS I became a visual learner. If I could see it or visualize it, it was fixed in my memory. So, the visual world around me was of huge importance. As I grew older and got involved in photography and business, being able to see beyond what was right in front of me aided in my success in both endeavors. To say that I am obsessed (okay, that may be a little strong) with
seeing is an understatement. It drives most of my activity. Be it work
life, home life, leisure, or ministry. I’m usually a mile down the road
before most people put their So, what is “seeing” all about? Think of it this way. Sight – is focused on the starting line. Vision – is focused on the finish line. But, Seeing – is the landscape in between filled with all sorts of stories and metaphors. While sight looks at life and vision looks past life, seeing looks through life. Therefore, my aim is to point out the scenery between both ends by: posing a question, exposing a truth, or, perhaps proposing a solution to some of the issues facing us today. I’ve exhibited nationally and internationally and won various awards. However, the biggest kick for me is when I get to share the stories behind my images and hear how others relate that to their own story. Want to know more about how you or your company can improve your "sight?" I conduct various workshops that that are suitable for any audience. I am also available for speaking events and meet the artist venues.
