For every hill I\u2019ve had to climb,
\nFor every stone that bruised my feet,
\nFor all the blood and sweat and grime,
\nFor blinding storm and burning heat,
\nMy heart sings a grateful song,
\nFor these are the things that made me strong.<\/span><\/p>\n

For all the heartaches and the tears,
\nFor all the anguish and the pain,
\nFor gloomy days and fruitless years,
\nAnd for the hopes that live in vain,
\nI do give thanks for now I know,
\nThese were the things that made me grow.<\/p>\n

Tis not the softer things of life,
\nThat stimulate man\u2019s will to strive,
\nBut bleak adversity and strife,
\nDo most to keep man\u2019s will alive.
