Tell me what you see
Go ahead, spend a few moments and let your eyes wander around the image below. And don’t come to the image with any preconceived thoughts. I’ll wait right here for you…
Okay, now what do you see? Maybe the better question is, what do you perceive? If all you see is yellow and green leaves on tree limbs and trunks, we need to talk. I say that with with a little tongue-in-cheek, but not too much.
I’ve read that 80% of the information we take in, we do so through our eyes. Yet in our day and age, even being flooded with loads of information on a minute by minute basis, I believe we “perceive” very little.
Make the leap with me now. I’m not referring to visual aesthetics. I’m using metaphor to share the need to hone our radar skills regarding the people around us.
As we move through autumn and the trees continue to change, use this time to sharpen your perception. You’ll be amazed at what you “see.”
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Isaiah 43:19
So, do you want to know what I see in the image below? I see: new growth and old, shadows and highlights, chaos and order, wounds, variety, strength, vulnerability, cover, shade, textures, contrast, patterns, symbiosis. Okay, I see trees, too. How’s that for starters?
