Circle of life
We now have a family of owls in the woods behind our house. One of the parents has been spending most days in our redbud tree just off our patio by about 15-20 feet. He/she has become quite comfortable with us. We can approach to within about 10-15 feet without it flying off.
The other day it flew from the redbud to an althea bush next to our house. He sat perched atop the bush for several minutes staring intently at a cardinal’s nest. Then he went in head first, grabbed his prey, and off he went.
We’ve also watched them get mice and moles, but I haven’t nailed any of those shots – yet! But the circle of life continues.
